The Best Ice Cream and Dessert Spot In Newburgh, NY
Midnight Ferry
Best Waterfront Dessert Shop in Newburgh
Midnight Ferry
Right on Front St, where the Hudson River meets downtown Newburgh, Midnight Ferry is the spot where every walk along the water ends with a scoop in hand. We're open all year, not just in summer, because good ice cream and river views shouldn't be seasonal. Come for the sunset, stay for the sundae.
About Us
From rich Cappuccino Explosion shakes to hand-rolled Nutella crepes and gooey grilled cheese melts, everything at Midnight Ferry is made to be shared, or not, we don't judge. Our soft serve swirls silky, our gelato tastes like a trip to Italy, and our sundaes come stacked with homemade whipped cream and toppings worth the mess.

Midnight Ferry is such a great spot on the Newburgh waterfront! It’s surrounded by excellent restaurants, making it the perfect place to grab dessert after dinner. The ice cream is delicious, and it’s so nice to grab a scoop and take a relaxing walk right along the Hudson River. Definitely a local gem for a night out ... by the water. Read More

Did my hubby decide at the late hour of 9-10 PM last night he wanted Midnight Ferry, seeing as we were in Newburgh? Yes. Did we then start the perilous journey to get there, taking the equivalent of driving through Tijuana MX aka Broadway? Yes! Did my youngest crash all the way out? Yes! This poor child is not ... accustomed to rough neighborhoods. Ha. Did her sister have to take her asthma pump, because she was laughing so hard, she couldn’t breathe? Also yes. My youngest kept yelling at hubby to run all the red lights, even in front of the cops! Wait, why are the cop cars in Newburgh NY, lit up like they’re going to a car meet up??? Back to our journey. Her imagination definitely came alive heading to the ferry, the homeless man in the street, somehow turned into a body covered by blankets…. Sigh. Did we drive through an entire accident? Also yes! Omg I’m so embarrassed about that one. Especially as I was too mortified to update Waze, there was an accident. Sigh. Did we finally make it to MIDNIGHT FERRY, only to find out they did not have hubby’s reason for traumatizing us all? Yep. They were plumb out of his pistachio. Bummer. So he settled for the Dubai sundae with pistachio drizzle. By now the youngest who was screaming bloody murder the entire trip getting there, had calmed down (she watches way too much Midwest Safety) to enquire if she could partake in this treat, alas she’s gluten intolerant, so she couldn’t. Hubs rated the treat 7/10. But why the 5 stars? Because midnight ferry give us one heck of an experience getting there, one we wouldn’t soon forget. My youngest will no doubt be telling her therapist about this near death experience, come next week. But as the saying goes. It’s the journey that counts not the destination. Read More
